Sharon Qi, PhD, LPCC, BCBA

Sharon is a highly qualified mental health professional with extensive expertise. She has treated clients with diagnoses of high-functioning autism and/or ADHD, depression, mood regulation issues, and challenges in relationship management and social or communication skills development. Additionally, she supports early career skill development and career transitions for older individuals. Her clients’ age ranges from school-age children to college students and older adults. She collaborates with parents of school-age clients to enhance their parenting skills. She also addresses personal life transitions, including the risks of marital separation, challenge of divorce, and co-parenting skills development.

 

Sharon employs various treatment approaches, reflecting her commitment to tailoring solutions to meet individual needs. She is particularly skilled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Meditation, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Bibliotherapy, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Client-Centered Multicultural Therapy. Her therapeutic services involve identifying the primary sources of stress, understanding the environmental triggers contributing to emotional disturbances or depression, and customizing treatment solutions on a case-by-case basis.

 

Sharon holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in counseling education from San Jose State University. Additionally, she is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), qualified to treat various mental health issues, and a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), specializing in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorders.

 

Sharon’s professional journey includes diverse experiences, from teaching in school districts and conducting research at the prestigious Stanford Research Institute (SRI), to serving as a product/program manager in a high-technology company, and now teaching and working in higher education while helping individuals with mental health needs. Such diverse background has equipped her with a deep understanding of individuals from different walks of life, allowing her to skillfully approach clients with empathy and apply effective motivational strategies.

 

Her strong passion for helping clients is evident in her belief that every individual deserves a better quality of life. With her diverse skill set, rich life experiences, and commitment to personalized treatment, she strives to make a positive impact on the lives of those she serves.

与一般的行为治疗师或心理治疗师不同的是,她拥有广泛的职业经验和生活阅历。她曾在
不同学区教过各个年龄段的学生,在斯坦福研究所从事过教育研究工作,还在一家高科技
公司担任产品和项目经理。目前,她在高等院校任教和工作,同时,她从事帮助治疗有心理障碍或挑战的服务。她是一个四口之家的母亲,两个孩子都已经成年并就业。因此,她的丰富人生经历使她在与有特殊需求的个体交往时,更加容易沟通,更容易体谅对方,也更能够灵活运用各种治疗手段。 

她接受过多种行为治疗方法和心理治疗方法的培训,她特别喜欢应用行为分析法(ABA),同时也辅助运用认知行为疗法(CBT)、接受与承诺治疗法(ACT)、阅读疗(Bibliotherapy),以及以人为本的多元文化疗法(Client-centered Multi-cultural Therapy)。
